IT Jobs working from home

Working from home is most people's ideal scenario. It provides you with greater flexibility and gives you more control over how you spend you time. This makes it a brilliant option for those who have a family, saves you time travelling to work and cuts all the costs that travel incurs. Home working is becoming much more common in recent years with the growth of the internet, and one of the most popular fields of home working is IT - leading to most home based jobs requiring a computer. If you are able to confidently navigate a computer and the internet then there are a number of jobs available to you, while still staying at home.

Data entry is a popular job that can be done from the comfort of your own home. With most data entry jobs you can pick either full or part time hours to suit your own requirements. In order to make money from this your keyboard skills need to be up to scratch, usually in terms of accuracy and speed. It may therefore be necessary to take a short computer course, which will help you in the long run.

Proof reading is another option for those with proficient computer and internet skills. You are likely to work from an online system which will send you documents to read. This requires attention to detail yet can be very rewarding for the right individual. This can be done to supplement your income, or if you wish, you can even earn a full time wage from proof reading jobs.

Transcriptional jobs are also common. This involves transcribing recorded reports on to your computer. The reports often come from the medical or legal profession, and because is important that medical or legal reports comply with legislation, some training in transcription in these areas is often required. However, the most basic skill is good typing skills. Most medical and legal transcription companies require their employees to type at 60 words per minute or more. So if you meet this requirement then the work is generally well paid and plentiful.

Search engine optimisation or Internet Marketing is also a fast growing job option. This involves managing a website, organising promotions and changing content, in order to increase traffic from search engines. Different companies have different requirements to enter the search optimisation field. Many come from a web design background whilst others have more basic computer knowledge and a business background. Many search engine optimisation jobs can be extremely well paid and hours are generally good.

For someone with more IT related qualifications you may be able to enter a home based career as a web designer. This is a lucrative career that is very much in demand. Web designers can either work freelance for themselves or work as part of a larger company who finds them work and in turn, takes a cut of the profit. Although this is a field which contains many graduates, it is not essential to have a degree to enter the field. However, a qualification giving you knowledge of web design and HTML skills would be helpful. Some companies will accept candidates with only a strong portfolio of hobby websites.
